Welcome to the official Web site of Eastern Missouri Psychiatric Society (EMPS), District Branch 09 of the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

The APA is a medical specialty society whose over 38,000 U.S. and international member physicians work together to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental disorders, including mental retardation and substance-related disorders. The APA is the voice and conscience of modern psychiatry. Its vision is a society that has available, accessible quality psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.

EMPS represents more than 330 psychiatric physician leaders in mental health. Our members are medical specialists who practice, train, teach and/or reside in the 26 counties of the Eastern Missouri District Branch. This includes the Counties of Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Franklin, Gasconade, Iron, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Reynolds, Ripley, Saint Charles, Saint Francois, Saint Louis, Saint Louis City, Sainte Genevieve, Scott, Stoddard, Warren, Washington, and Wayne.

The objectives of EMPS are to promote the welfare of all those with mental illness, to foster the medically based principles of psychiatry, and to support psychiatrists in the practice of their profession.
